Arriving in Switzerland – World Championships Prep

My friend (and fellow Canadian National Ski Mountaineering Team Member) Caroline and I arrived in Geneva, Switzerland on March 3rd. We decided to come over earlier for this World Championships versus what we did two years ago in Italy. This way we could allow our bodies more time to get over jet lag and recover from being in a tiny seat on the plane for the long flight.

So far the weather has been beautiful! Geneva was very warm. We rented a car in Geneva, went grocery shopping by accident in France (we didn’t know we crossed the border, but it worked out in our favour as the groceries were much less expensive there!) and then drove the route along Lac Le Leman (Lake Geneva) and up to Villars-sur-Ollon.

We have had nothing but sunny weather since we have been in Villars. The view is phenomenal. There are so many chalets up the mountain and in unexpected locations in the trees up the ski hill. I bet this place would be fun to explore in the summer as well!

It is shocking how many ski lifts they have here. We have the option to take a train or a gondola from the village up to the mountain and then there are chair lifts, T bars and Poma lifts in every direction! We can also ski tour up from the village, which has been amazing for some exercise with a view!
