Lori Anne begins each session with a detailed history including a review of your goals, followed by postural and movement analysis and specific tests related to the issue or injury presented. She works primarily with individuals who are recently injured, returning to high level sports, who have recently had surgery or are looking to improve their performance and prevent injury.

She has a special interest in lower extremity function, particularly the knee joint. She has experience in returning athletes to high level sport following ACL repairs, MCL injuries, and meniscal injuries or repairs.

Lori Anne provides a variety of treatment techniques, carefully selected based off of the most recent research and the needs of each individual at each appointment:

  • Manual Therapy
    • Use of hands to mobilize joints and restore normal movement to joints, tissue, and nerves.
  • Custom Exercise Programs
    • Individualized exercises with a focus on functional movements to help your body heal and strengthen in areas that are needed.
  • Acupuncture (Acupuncture Canada/AFCI)
    • Acupuncture needles are used in Tradition Chinese Medicine points to help decrease pain, reduce inflammation, and to promote healing.
    • Needles are left in place for a 10-20 minutes.
  • Intramuscular Stimulation (Chan Gunn/UBC IMS)
    • A needle is inserted into a muscle to target neuropathic pain (pain driven by the nervous system).
    • Needles are inserted and then removed to elicit a desired response from the muscle and it’s associated nerve.
  • Soft Tissue Massage
    • Use of hands to mobilize muscle and surrounding connective tissue to promote healing, increase range of motion, or alleviate swelling.
  • Electrotherapy
    • Neuromuscular Electrical Nerve Stimulation to assist in muscle activation.
    • Inferential Current to interfere with pain transmission and reduce pain.
    • Therapeutic Ultrasound to provide heat and stimulate healing in tissue.
    • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to decrease pain levels.
  • Custom Knee Bracing
    • Custom and non-custom knee bracing for Ossur and Donjoy.
      • Bracing options for mild sprains, ligament support, or offloading for knees with osteoarthritis
    • Off the shelf ankle, shoulder, wrist, elbow and hip bracing.
  • Sports Taping
    • Lori Anne uses a variety of taping techniques to improve muscle activation, provide mechanical support or help improve posture.
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation, Balance and Dizziness Re-training
    • Vertigo and dizziness can be caused by a variety of issues. Lori Anne treats Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo and other forms of dizziness. It is best to see your Family Physician prior to this treatment to ensure the correct diagnosis before we begin.
  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ)
    • Using a variety of techniques listed above, Lori Anne helps those with painful clicks, tension in their jaw, restricted opening of their mouth, or misalignment of their jaw return to painfree movement.
